EXTRA! EXTRA! Lee Fields' New CD: "My World" to be released

I found the news on Heavy Soul Brother's blog this morning and thought that I had to spread it. Lee Fields, the man with a ton of soul in his voice, is about to have a new CD out. It's name is My World.
Lee Fields has been a favorite with me ever I've heard him the first time a couple of years ago. (Go here for an earlier post about him.)

Please check his new CD out here.

Mr. Lee Fields accompanied by the wonderful Sharon Jones and her Dap Kings: James Brown Medley rehearsal. Y'all get up and ...! Sharon deserves all the credit for making my spine tingle with her take on Try Me. Just give her a good listen.
Unfortunaetly, the clip ends just when Lee is cuttin' loose ... Dammit!

Lee Fields "The Only One Loving You"

From Lee's latest album My World (2009) is this track. I love Lee Fields because he's got lots of soul in his voice -- just as I remember it from the 70's.

Lee Fields -- Wanna Dance

Get the album here.
Ready for some Lee Fields? He's always good for a surprise or two ... And his 1979 album  Let's Talk It Over (Angle 3)  is such a surprise. With titles ranging from sweet and deep soul to serious Funk, this album seems to lack in consistency -- at least when you first listen to it. But the more you listen, the better the music gets.
There's a remastered CD available with almost as many "bonus" tracks as original tracks ... Well, I don't know. I love the original eight tracks and think they paint a vivid picture of Lee's versatility.
Please check out Lee Field's other releases -- he has some very good music out there. His 2009 album My World will convince you of his talent.

Lee Fields: "Meet Me Tonight", "You Made A New Man Out Of Me" "

Lee Fields erinnert sehr an James Brown: funky durch und durch. Der erste Titel Meet Me Tonight tendiert jedoch etwas in Richtung Deep/Southern Soul.
You Made A New Man Out Of Me von seinem Album "Problems" (2002) ist aber m. E. Funk supreme!

Trains ...

Hubby and I are planning our trip to Germany later this year, and I was talking to my cousin in Munich about taking a train to visit her and the family. Of course, that conversation ended up being yet another inspiration for a post!
First song that came to my mind was Riding On A Train by The Pasadenas. Some how that song captures my excitement about the trip. Lots of friends waiting, good German food -- and wine of course, too.
I'm counting the days already!
