Jimmy Radcliffe -- Feels Like Lovin' (unreleased)

There's a whole lot of talk about Jimmy's Long After Tonight Is Over, and I agree that song is great, but I didn't fall in love with it at first listen. It was Feels Like Lovin' that made my heart skip a beat or two. (Such precious gems are to be found on Barry's Vintage Soul Radio Show)

Danny Moore -- Somebody New

When this title played in my i-tunes library, I had that how-come-I-never-noticed-it-before moments. I couldn't help but feel for a moment that this voice resembled so much that of Paul Williams from the Temptations.
I don't know anything about Danny Moore -- but I know he could sing. This track went straight into my favs. section.

Steelers --- I'm Sorry

This is the kind of song that catches my attention; as a matter of fact, this song got me out of the pool last night when it came up on my playlist. I couldn't remember having heard it (yes, yes I know) so I climbed out of the water, and went upstairs to the patio to see what song it was and who sang it ...

All I know about the Steelers is that they are a Chicago Soul group with only one hit in 1969, Get It From The Bottom. Today's song is the B-side of that 45.

J. J. Barnes -- Another Underrated Singer With An Extraordinary Voice

Here is one excellent vocalist who has -- hereabouts -- been waiting in vain for the recognition he deserves. What a shame! J. J. Barnes's voice resembles Marvin Gaye's, and in my opinion, he sounds best on such ballads like Time Is Love and I Just Make Believe (I'm Touching You). His most popular recordings, though, are typical Northern Soul titles like Baby, Please Come Back Home and Sweet Cherry.

You Are Just A Living Doll has been sampled by Raekwon, which I found out through ((sawyer)) once again. Thanks!

James Jay Barnes was born in 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. After a rather productive, but little successful, career with various American labels, he followed an invitation by Edwin Starr to come to the UK to perform. The shows turned out to be successful, and J. J. was signed to the British label Contempo records.
He has become a favorite British Northern Soul artist, performing live in England frequently.

Heute gibt's mal was von einem nicht so bekannten Soulman: William Bell. William, Jahrgang 1939, brachte seine erste Single (You Don't Miss Your Water) 1961 heraus. Dieser und viele seiner anderen Titel wurden von Stars wie Albert King, Cream oder Billy Idol nachgesungen.
